As a result of the strong rainfall followed by mountain-originating floodwaters, the section of the Baku-Shamakhi-Yevlakh highway passing through the Garameryem village area in the Goychay district has been closed for repair, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Emergency Situations said, APA reports.
Noted that currently, the relevant state institutions are taking coordinated necessary measures.
Notably, strong and persistent rainfall of a cyclonic nature that began during the midday hours today has caused a series of damages in the area of Goychay.
According to preliminary information, the flood has also swept away livestock. Currently, traffic is restricted in both directions on the Baku-Shamakhi-Yevlakh highway.
In total, 7 vehicles are stranded under the floodwaters.
