Azerbaijan hands over Tajik citizen who joined armed groups in other countries to his country

Cooperation with Tajikistan's law enforcement agencies in the fight against crime continues successfully, the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan told APA.

The request of the General Prosecutor's Office of Tajikistan to hand over Yusupov Mamur Ikromovich, a citizen of the Republic of Tajikistan, born in 1976, who was accused of illegally participating in armed groups on the territory of other countries and was put on international search in 2023, was granted by the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Mamur Yusupov was identified in Azerbaijan in July 2023 and an arrest warrant was issued for him.

In accordance with the Convention on Legal Aid and Legal Relations in Civil, Family and Criminal Cases dated 07.10.2002, the accused person was decided to be extradited and he was handed over the to the authorities of Tajikistan accompanied by a special convoy of the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
