33 trespassers detained last month on Azerbaijanâ€™s borders

Bakuâ€“APA. As a result of border defense measures, 33 people were detained during the 26 trespassing incidents on Azerbaijanâ€™s borders in March, 2009, press center of the State Border Service told APA. 16 of detained trespassers were Azerbaijani, 7 â€“ Georgian, 6 â€“ Iranian, 2- Pakistani and 2- Moldovan citizens.
Appropriate measures were taken about 433 people for violation of border regime rules, 213 â€“ for visa violations (170 of them were without visa and 43 with expired visas), 41 â€“ for not having necessary documents.
83 wanted people were detained and handed over to the law-enforcement organizations. Within the anti-drug measures, 3 kg heroin and 125.5 g opium was confiscated. During the control of Caspian coastal regime rules, 11 ships and 5 boats of Azerbaijan, as well as three ships of Russian Federation were detained and inspected. Three Azerbaijani citizens on board of one of the boats were detained and brought to justice.
As a result of anti-smuggling measures, smuggled goods worth of AZN 132 993 totally, including two rifles, AK-74 automatic gunâ€™s charger, 29 bullets of various calibers, 20 725 various medicines, 159 g jewelries, large stores of cigarettes and alcohols, as well as foods and other industrial and agricultural goods.
