APA’s correspondent at the site reports that the fire broke out in the cardboard unit of the meat-packing plant. 140 sq m area burnt down in the aftermath of the fire. Director of Keshle Meat-packing Plant Salman Alakbarov told APA that the State Fire Fighting Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations was immediately informed about the fire. Alakbarov said no one had been injured, the fire had not caused damage to the plant.

The fire broke out in the area rented by Kristal-EX company. The company rented one of the units in Keshle Meat-packing Plant in September, 2008 and began collecting cardboards. Head of Kristal-EX company Ehtiram Rzayev told journalists that they planned to collect cardboard, press and sell to the paper factory.
“The causes of the fire are not known. Maybe it happened because of cigarette and the wind intensified the fire,” he said.
Rzayev said the fire began outside, then spread inside. There were about 160 tones of pressed cardboard and pressing equipment in the unit.
