Radical religious group members protest the calling them “vahhabits”

Baku. Ramil Mammadli–APA. The hearing on the case of former officer of Azerbaijani Army Kamran Asadov and 19 others was continued in the Military Court of Grave Crimes on Thursday. APA reports that judge Islam Neymanov presided over the process. Friends of accused persons Zaur Badalov, Kamran Gadirov and Rafig Gadirov gave testimony as a witness. Gadirov’s letter about his absence as a witness was disputed. Accused Kamran Asadov asked the witness why he called them “vahhabits”. Gadirov’s answer didn’t satisfy him. Accused Samir Mehraliyev said that they disputed it with Tovba Society’s chairman Haji Abdul and said they attempt to beat him for this word.
Judge Islam Neymanov said that this issue was not related to the indictment and was not described in the Criminal Code. The judge also said that they received notification about health problem of accused Farid Jabbarov.
The hearing will be continued on April 9.

Kamran Asadov, Bakhtiyar Orujov, Farid Jabbarov, Elshan Mammadov, Kamran Babayev, Samir Mehbaliyev, Terlan Karimov, Edgar Aliyev, Ramil Karimov, Shirvani Babayev, Samir Aliyev, Yashar Maharramov, Orkhan Alizadeh, Hajibala Huseynov, Azer Ibadov, Shahriyar Maharramov, Ramin Jalilov, Rovshan Abdulaliyev, Ilkin Ismayilov and Vugar Aliyev are accused of setting up a radical religious group, attempting to start military struggle, attacking on LUKoil petrol station in Baku, preparing terror attack on the U.S. and UK embassies in Azerbaijan.
