4 employees of Azerbaijani interior bodies held accountable, 17 dismissed from service last year

Elbrus Seyfullayev – APA. “Relevant measures in accordance with the legislation were taken about 154 employees of Azerbaijani interior bodies on 113 facts in 2008. 4 were held accountable, 17 dismissed from interior bodies, 19 dismissed from their posts, disciplinary measures were taken about 114 employees,” says Human Rights Commissioner Elmira Suleymanova’s report about “The state of ensuring and protecting human rights and freedoms in Azerbaijan” 2008 adopted in the parliament, APA reports.

The report says that there a number of problems in connection with human rights. Human Rights Commissioner notes that there is still a need to continue reforms in the law-enforcement bodies. According to the report, ombudsman institution received appeals about the activity of separate judges and informed the related bodies about it.

The investigations showed that people mostly complained that the copies of court judgments were not given to the citizens in time, the participants were not informed about the time and place of hearings, sides were not informed that it was refused to send the appeals to the court of higher instance.
