Former Deputy Chief of Yasamal District Police Office Chingiz Mammadov gives testimony in trial of radical religious group

Witnesses gave testimonies in the hearing. Accused Hajibala Huseynov’s classmate Aydin Sahibli gave a witness testimony. The witness, who is working as an interpreter in the Qatar’s embassy in Azerbaijan, said he got education in the Damask-based Al-Fath Islamic University together with Huseynov in 2000-2002. He said Huseynov left his education unfinished in 2002 and dealt with the different jobs in damask. Sahibli said there were differences between Huseynov’s religious views and his approach. The witness Huseynov’s religious addresses focused on the establishing of the Islamic state and implementation of the religious rules.
The witness testimony to the preliminary investigation was also made public during the hearing. He noted in his testimony that while living in Damask Huseynov fell under the influence of the religious group known as “Kaplanchilar” in Syria and Turkey. He got religious education in Abu Nur mosque in Damask under the guidance of person named as Alattin Hoca. The witness said leaders of “Kaplanchilar” Camalettin Kaplan and Allattin Hoca are Turkish citizens. They were arrested in Turkey for their radical religious activity and then were departed from the country.
Huseynov protested against the testimony given to the preliminary investigation and said that he never talked against the state.
Rovshan Hasanov, who was working together with accused Rovshan Abdulaliyev in Dubai, also gave a witness testimony.
Former deputy chief of the Yasamal District Police Office retired police colonel Chingiz Mammadov gave testimony concerning the episode of purchasing Winchester rifle by accused Kamran Babayev in Beretta shop in Yasamal District.
Judge Neymanov said Yasamal District Police Office confirmed that the gun was not registered. But Babayev had permission card signed by former deputy police chief Chingiz Mammadov. His signature was inspected. Mammadov said no one could purchase the gun within an hour. The former police officer couldn’t confirm in the court that whether he signed the card or not.
Former inspector of the Yasamal District Police Office police major Yusif Baryramov also gave a testimony on this episode. The General Prosecutor’s Office informed the court that it launched a criminal case against Beretta shop’s owner Gudrat Najafov and he was arrested.
The process will be continued in the second half of the day.
Kamran Asadov, Bakhtiyar Orujov, Farid Jabbarov, Elshan Mammadov, Kamran Babayev, Samir Mehbaliyev, Terlan Karimov, Edgar Aliyev, Ramil Karimov, Shirvani Babayev, Samir Aliyev, Yashar Maharramov, Orkhan Alizadeh, Hajibala Huseynov, Azer Ibadov, Shahriyar Maharramov, Ramin Jalilov, Rovshan Abdulaliyev, Ilkin Ismayilov and Vugar Aliyev are accused of setting up a radical religious group, attempting to start military struggle, attacking on LUKoil petrol station in Baku, preparing terror attack on the U.S. and UK embassies in Azerbaijan.
