Human rights defenders monitor Justice Ministryâ€™s medical unit and jail #11

Baku â€“ APA. Members of the Public Committee for Control over Penitentiary System under Justice Ministry Chingiz Ganizadeh and Seadet Benenyarli monitored medical unit and jail #11 of Justice Ministry. Ganizadeh told APA that they had monitored detention conditions, canteens and libraries. The human rights defenders talked to the prisoners privately. Chingiz Ganizadeh said ex-health minister Ali Insanovâ€™s treatment in the medical unit had finished.
â€œAli Insanov wants to be reexamined by neurosurgeons,â€ he said.
He said lifer Elchin Amiraslanov treated in the medical unit asked to be transferred to the cell repaired at his expenses.
â€œThe prisoner also asked us to help get back the books and other things taken from him in the jail. We will deal with this problem,â€ he said.
Ganizadeh said they appreciated involvement of prisoners in labor in jail #11. The human rights defender said there were vacancies for the post of officer and psychologist in both facilities.
