Huseyn Darya: â€œAnar Nagilbaz has a hand in my arrestâ€

Judge Mail Bayramov presided over the hearing. According to the indictment, Huseyn Darya faced charges under articles 228.4 (illegal purchase, selling or carrying of gas weapon, cold steel, including throwing weapon) and 234.1 (illegal purchase or storage without a purpose of selling of narcotics or psychotropic substances in a quantity (amount) exceeding necessary for personal consumption) of the Criminal Code. Hikmat Shahverdiyev and Beyler Gambarov faced charges under Article 234.2 (illegal purchase or storage with a view of selling, manufacturing, processing, transportation, transfer or selling of narcotics or psychotropic substances) of the Criminal Code.
Giving testimony in the hearing Huseyn Darya did not admit his guilt. Darya confessed he was a drug addict, but said he had no gas weapon.
â€œI was beaten by the officers of Interior Ministryâ€™s Department to Combat Drugs. They showed me a gas weapon and said they had found it on me. They tortured me and made me give false testimony. I am a famous artist. It doesn’t become me to keep a weapon,â€ he said.
Huseyn Darya said his colleague Anar Nagilbaz had a hand in his arrest:
â€œThey told me I would have been there, if I had not spoken about Anar Nagilbaz.â€
The other defendants did not admit their guilt, either.
Following this, officers of Interior Ministryâ€™s Department to Combat Drugs gave testimonies as witnesses. Head investigator of the department on special operations Alakbar Khalafov said Huseyn Darya was arrested first, Hikmat Shahverdiyev and Beyler Gambarov were arrested later basing on his testimonies. Another investigator of Interior Ministry Galib Mammadov said he participated in the operation when Huseyn Darya was arrested.
â€œWe were told that Huseyn Darya made injections in the streets. We detained him in the place called â€œKubinkaâ€. A gas weapon and heroin was found on his person,â€ he said.
Witnesses also confirmed the investigatorsâ€™ statements in their testimonies.
The defendants were arrested by Interior Ministryâ€™s Department to Combat Drugs in December last year.
