Incident happens in Asylum #1 in Azerbaijani capital

Head physician of the hospital Agahasan Rasulov told APA that conflict among the mental patients caused the incident. Rasulov said one of the patients swore and two others scuffled with him. Sabunchu district police officers were called to calm the patients.
Press service of Health Ministry told APA that the situation is stable and the incident is being investigated.
Chief of Azerbaijani Committee against Torture Elchin Behbudov told APA that patients held in the compulsory mental health treatment department of Republic Asylum #1 in Mashtaga settlement demanded cigarette and mobile phone.
â€œThe administration of the department told me that the patients have already been calmed. They say it was possible by the interference of the police. I was also told that no one was beaten while calming down the patients,â€ he said.
According to committee chief, the persons proved to be mental patients while committing a crime are treated in this department. The treatment is compulsory. Elchin Behbudov said that about 100 mental patients are treated here.
