These people had to leave their origin places during Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict.
WFP wanted $ 16 million from donors for carrying out 2-year operation. The body has received nearly 70% of this amount at present. Russia gave $2 million of food to internally displaced people (IDPs) in Azerbaijan. The commodities – 217.5 metric tons of vegetable oil and 2,016 metric tons of wheat flour – were purchased in Russia and will help feed 75,000 of the most vulnerable IDPs for four months.
The UN food agency is in the process of handing over its caseload of 130,000 beneficiaries to the Government of Azerbaijan – which is already taking care of the first 55,000 – and plans to complete this operation by end of June 2008. /APA/
