National Security Ministry neutralizes two groups smuggling drugs en route Iran-Azerbaijan

Wanted Iranian citizen, Latif Mehriban, 41, another Iranian citizen, Karim Yari, 48, Agjabadi region resident, Rafig Safiyev, 44, Gazakh region residents â€“ Mahammad Chobanaliyev, 25, Pasha Ahmadov, 24, Etibar Ismayilov, 26, and Sabuhi Rahimov, 25, were arrested.
1 AKM submachine gun, 22 bullets, 1 charger and over 5kg heroin were found on the members of the transitional group.
The gang organized by Latif Mehriban smuggled 25kg heroin and 77kg other drugs in the country in 2004-2007. National Security Ministry officers confiscated the drugs and 37 members of the group, as well as 30 Azerbaijanis, 6 Iranians and 1 Georgian were arrested.
National Security Ministry officers also detained Jalilabad region residents â€“ Samad Mammadov, 29, and Rovshan Garayev, 26, over 19kg hashish was found on them.
National Security Ministry Head Investigation Department launched criminal case on the relevant articles of the Criminal Code and the above-mentioned persons were arrested. Investigation is underway. /APA/
