Azerbaijani National Security Ministry arrests last member of radical Wahhabi group plotting terror attack on US embassy in Azerbaijan

Bakhtiyar Orujov admitted attacking Lukoil filling station, plotting a terror attack on the US embassy in Azerbaijan, stealing ammunition from the military unit to release their “religious brothers”, who planned to commit terrorist actions in our country, but were neutralized by National Security Ministry and are now held in Gobustan jail of Justice Ministry’s Penitentiary Service.
Bakhtiyar Orujov gave the last two hand grenades, which they had stolen from the military unit. So, all the members of the 11-men armed group, accused of committing grave crimes were neutralized.
4 AKM submachine guns, 18 chargers, submachine guns, 1 PK machinegun, 20 hand grenades, 20 lighters and other ammunition were found on them.
Baku-born Kamran Asadov, who served for Army Unit #N as Senior Lieutenant, in collaboration with other radical group members, stole 4 submachine guns, 1 PK machinegun, 20 hand grenades and ammunition from his military unit and ran away.
On the intelligence about a terror attack to embassies of some countries, the Ministry carried out a special operation to foil the group.
On October 27, secret agents carried out an operation in a house in suburban Mashtaga settlement of Baku and arrested a number of group members ad killed one who put up armed resistance.
Some of the ammunition and arms were discovered at the house and some in Ismayilli where they hid them.
October 30, other group members - Kamran Asadov, Farid Jabbarov, Bakhtiyar Orujov attacked Lukoil filling station in Baku, fired at employees, robbed money and escaped.
Through an ongoing search for other radical members, members of the target group – Vugar Aliyev, Elshan Mammadov, and later on November 9, Kamran Asadov and Farid Jabbarov were arrested. /APA/
