Court told the APA that Guliyev was detained on the suit of Traffic Police Department under Interior Ministry, General Mayor Ramiz Zeynalov. The court sentenced him to 2 years and 6 months in jail.
Ramiz Zeynalov showed in his suit that his dignity and honour was insulted in articles “Rise in prices of Main State Traffic Police†(26.05.2007), “Chaos in State Main Traffic Police†(26.08.2007) published in “Ideal†newspaper headed by Nazim Guliyev. Chief basing on it wanted arrest of Nazim Guliyev. Nazim Guliyev faced charges under articles 147 (defaming) and 148 (insulting) of Criminal Code and was held accountable.
Correspondent of “Ideal†newspaper Aydin Janiyev told the APA, he is the author of those articles.
