Wanted OMON commander Nizami Shahmuradov arrested

She said that Shahmuradovâ€™s mother died after long-lasting disease in the afternoon on October 22. Shahmuradov suddenly appeared, when the body was being taken out of the house. Nizami Shahmuradov said he wanted to give himself up. He told his relations to inform the relevant bodies about it and said he will give himself up after his mother is buried. Shahmuradov was arrested in Gurd gapisi cemetery after his mother was buried.
â€œNizami Shahmuradov was taken to National Security Ministry. We have already appealed to rights defender Elchin Behbudov for meeting him,â€ she said.
45-year old Nizami Shahmuradov had been wanted since 1995. It is not known where he had hidden up to now. His brother Vidadi Mahmudov was arrested for the events of 1995 and released on pardon decree. /APA/
