Orujali Hajiyev: Rescue work to be completed tomorrow night
- We did the best to rescue the supposed survivors out of the rubble of the building from August 28 to September 1. We didn’t bring heavy vehicles to the site and sniffer dog groups and rescuers were involved in the activities. The rescue activities are likely to be completed tomorrow. Dead bodies are supposed to be trapped under the basement. There are 6 meter deep concrete layer on he basement after the collapse. We want to recover bodies undamaged as much as possible. All the heavy vehicles and passenger carrying vehicles are registered in the list of our civil defense troops. By law, all the state-owned privately owned heavy vehicles and equipment comes to the disposal of the Emergency Situations Ministry in the event of emergency accident.
- At what stage are the rescue and cleaning works now?
- The activities are at the second stage because there is almost no probability of survivors. The area is being cleaned. We are working at the fastest tempo. The main issue is no to damage neighboring building. Operation of the heavy vehicles has not been stopped since the collapse day.
- When will the results of the examination of the evacuated neighboring buildings be publicized? And, may these building be knocked down?
- We know that the residents of the neighboring buildings are worried. They are living in the house of their relatives. The results of the examination will be publicized in two days. According to the initial examination, there is no need to knock down these buildings. Other building are also being examined at present.
- Media spread different rumors and critical articles about the collapse. What is your opinion?
- This collapse is considered to be the heaviest fall. As you know, 1 16-storied building fell 100%. It has never been possible to remove the aftermath of building collapse in a short period of time in the world practice. If these press organs had invited specialists from any country, they would be surprised by the speed of rescue and cleaning activities. E managed to carry out rescue activities in a short period of time. The survivors and bodies were pulled out of the rubble, all the necessary forces have been involved in the site and the security of the collapse zone has been ensured.
- The Emergency Situations Ministry reportedly appealed to some countries for rescue works. How true is the information?
- We don’t need any assistance and we didn’t appeal to any country. There are enough vehicles and specialists in the country. All the necessary equipment and vehicles are at the disposal of the ministry. There is no need to invite any.
- When will the rescue work be completed?
- The rescue activities are likely to be completed by tomorrow night. It is probable that thee are bodies at the depth because the 6-meter layers fell. Still, we suppose the bodies are on the upper layers. We think we will be able to pull all the bodies by tomorrow night. /APA/
