Azerbaijani Deputy Defense Minister Rail Rzayevâ€™s near relative Colonel-Lieutenant Fuad Agharzayev arrested

According to the report, Rail Rzayevâ€™s relative Colonel-Lieutenant Fuad Vasif Agharzayev, who was working in the Air Forces, was summoned to testimony on May 21 and detained on same day. Several high-ranking air force officers were also detained together with Agharzayev.

Agharzayevâ€™s relatives confirmed the fact to APA. They said Agharzayev was arrested on May 21, but they donâ€™t know what accusations presented against him. The servicemanâ€™s relatives claimed that he was not guilty.

Spokesman for the Defense Ministry Teymour Abdullayev also confirmed to APA the fact of Agharzayevâ€™s arrest. He said the fact was investigated and details would be given after finishing the investigation.

â€œAzadligâ€ newspaper was first to report about the Agharzayevâ€™s arrest.

Azerbaijani Deputy Defense Minister, Commander of Air Forces and Air Defense Forces, Lieutenant-General Rail Rzayev was killed near secondary school No. 172 in Ismayil bey Gutgashinli Street, 300-400m far from his house in Inshaatchilar Avenue in Yasamal district of Baku at 07.30 on February 11, 2009. The Republic Military Prosecutorâ€™s Office launched criminal case on the fact on articles 120.2.5 (deliberate murder committed on mercenary prompting or by order, as well as with a view of use a body of a victim) and 228 (illegal purchase, transfer, selling, storage, transportation or carrying of fire-arms, accessories to it, supplies (except for the smooth-bore hunting weapon and ammunition to it), explosives) of the Penal Code.

Rail Rzayevâ€™s aide Aydin Rafiyev and his son Anar Rafiyev were also arrested.
