Court passes judgment on members of radical religious group

APA reports that judge Islam Neymanov presided over the process. The court passed a judgment over the defendants. According to the judgment, Kamran Asadov was sentenced to 15 years in jail, Bakhtiyar Orujov to 15 years, Farid Jabbarov to 15 years, Elshan Mammadov to 14 years, Kamran Babayev to 15 years, Samir Mehraliyev to 15 years, Tarlan Karimov to 13 years, Edgar Aliyev to 6 years, Ramil Karimov to 12 years, Orkhan Alizadeh to 10 years and six months, Hajibala Huseynov to 6 years and 3 months, Azer Ibadov to 10 years, Shahriyar Maharramov to 2 years, Ramin Jalilov to 11 years, Rovshan Abdulaliyev to 12 years and 6 months, Ilkin Ismayilov to 18 years, Vugar Aliyev to 14 years in jail.
Ilkin Ismayilov has been sentenced to 7 years in jail over this case. In 2006, Court of Grave Crimes sentenced him to 15 years in jail. Unserved term of Ismayilov was merged with his 11-year imprisonment.
Defendants did not stand up protesting against the judgment. They chanted â€œAllahu-Akbarâ€.

The court also passed a decision on appealing to the Defense Ministry to deprive Kamran Asadov of the rank of lieutenant. According to the court decision, relevant documents will be presented to General Prosecutorâ€™s Office for investigating the Winchester rifle and membership card of the Hunters Society owned by Kamran Babayev.

Former deputy chief of Yasamal district police office Chingiz Mammadov also gave testimony concerning the episode on Kamran Babayevâ€™s gun. The court did not regard the testimonies as satisfactory and considered it necessary to carry our additional investigation. The owner of the shop, where Babayev bought the gun, was reportedly arrested.

Kamran Asadov, Bakhtiyar Orujov, Farid Jabbarov, Elshan Mammadov, Kamran Babayev, Samir Mehraliyev, Tarlan Karimov, Edgar Aliyev, Ramil Karimov, Shirvani Babayev, Samir Aliyev, Yalchin Maharramov, Orkhan Alizadeh, Hajibala Huseynov, Azer Ibadov, Shahriyar Maharramov, Ramin Jalilov, Rovshan Abdulaliyev, Ilkin Ismayilov and Vugar Aliyev were accused of setting up a radical religious group, attempting to start military struggle, attacking on LUKoil petrol station in Baku, preparing terror attack on the U.S. and UK embassies in Azerbaijan.
