New details known concerning arrest of chief of Goranboy region Education Department

Sources in the region told APA that investigators searched the office chief of the Education Department Elmar Aliyev and found AZN 2 million and ready certificates of secondary education. Elmar Aliyev was reportedly arrested basing on the complaints received by Department to Combat Corruption under General Prosecutorâ€™s Office. Directors of secondary schools of Agamalioglu and Sefikurd villages were also reportedly held accountable.

Goranboy prosecutorâ€™s office confirmed to APA that Aliyev and directors of two schools had been detained, but did not name the directors. The prosecutorâ€™s office did not give detailed information saying Department to Combat Corruption under General Prosecutorâ€™s Office was carrying out the investigation.

Parliamentarian from Goranboy Gultakin Hajibayli told APA that chief of the region education department Elmar Aliyev had held the post since 2002, he was not her rival in the parliamentary elections.

According to some media reports, Elmar Aliyevwas arrested on insistence of Gultakin Hajibayli. They write that Elmar Aliyev was the main rival of Hajibayli in the parliamentary elections in 2005.
