The operation was conducted by the Southern regional Unit of Anti-Drug Office of the Interior Ministry of Azerbaijan in coastal area of the town of Liman (Port) of Lankaran region. The group was rendered harmless while smuggling narcotics from Iran to Azerbaijan. Police was forced to open fire on the resident of the Islamic Republic of Iran Zahir Rashid Heydarli, 35 when he tried to escape. He was badly wounded in the area of the waist and was taken to the Republican Neurosurgery Hospital in Baku. Other members of the group were detained by police.
