Penitentiary Service: “No mass disobedience occurred in jail #12”

Baku. Ramil Mammadli – APA. Justice Ministry’s Penitentiary Service made a statement on media reports about mass disobedience in jail #12. Public affairs department of the Penitentiary Service told APA the reports that the prisoners began revolt with participation of the imprisoned world boxing champion Fariz Mammadov were not true. Fariz Mammadov is not held in jail #12.
“The service is taking necessary measures for improving quality of food, preventing brutal behavior towards them. No mass disobedience occurred in jail #12. Actually planned search measures were held in all jails. These measures aim to find things banned by the legislation and have prophylactic character.”
According to the statement, the related state body was not contacted concerning the article entitled “Revolt in jail #12”.
“It aims to cause anxiety of prisoners and their relatives,” the statement said.
