They said a stray dog bit Hashimova some days ago. Though she was treated for hydrophobia, it was impossible to save her life. Earlier an 8-year-old girl died after being bitten by a dog.

Chief of Yevlakh Veterinary Department Ahliman Nasibov confirmed the fact to APA. He said that a stray dog bit Hashimova on April 16. He said all the measures had been taken against hydrophobia, she was given an injection.
“The dog that bit Hashimova was killed. But the dog should have been kept alive in order to determine whether the dog suffered hydrophobia. If the dog suffered hydrophobia, it would die within 10 days. In this case the dog is sent to Republic Veterinary Laboratory. Only after the examination it is possible to say whether the dog suffered hydrophobia or not. But as the dog was killed, it is impossible to say a concrete word about hydrophobia,” he said.

As regards Hashimova’s death, Nasibov said she had been vaccinated against hydrophobia.
“Maybe Hashimova’s death has other causes. Not everyone, who is bitten by a dog, dies. Maybe the vaccine was low-quality,” he said.

Nasibov said the utility unit was taking measures concerning stray dogs in the region.
