He said that about 1250 defendants will be transferred from Bayil detention facility #1 and several hundreds of defendants will be transferred from Shuvalan detention facility #3.
Alakbarov said the jail built in Shaki will be opened by the end of the year. He said after the jail in Nakhchivan is complected, defendants from the region will be transferred there. Chief of the Penitentiary Service said there are 23 closed jails in Azerbaijan. 19 of them are jails, 1 penal institution and 3 detention facilities. Moreover there are 14 punitive stations, 13 specialized institutions in the country. Deputy Minister said there is 1 specialized institution, 1 punitive station and 1 detention facility in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. Alakbarov said the construction of the new jail of the Penitentiary Service will finish in 2010.
