Radical religious group members resist court supervisor

Baku. Ramil Mammadli â€“ APA. The next hearing on the case of former officer of Azerbaijani Army Kamran Asadov and 19 others was held in the Military Court of Grave Crimes. APA reports that judge Islam Neymanov presided over the process. The reply speeches were made in the process. Judge Neymanov said some of the accused persons attempted to resist the court supervisor, who drew up statement on the fact and submitted it to the court. The judge called on defendants to respect the law. Prosecutor Oruj Jalilov said all defendants had responsibility because they confirmed that they had same intentions indirectly confirming that the organized group coordinated its actions. The public prosecutor said insincere testimony of the defendants couldnâ€™t be noted as an evident. The prosecutor said the court had to consider the easing cases. â€œThere is no point in Islam to kill innocent people. It is not correct that Kamran Asadov tries to base his actions on religionâ€.
Asadov protested the prosecutorâ€™s speech. â€œIs it sin to kill Krishnaists? Bring examples from Ayah and hadis when you speak about Islamâ€.
The prosecutor asked the court to address the issue of the government care about the three children of defendant Yashar Maharramov, who got divorced.
Then defense lawyers made speeches. They said they didnâ€™t expect fair decision from the court. Lawyer Yaver Huseyn asked the court to clearly describe in the indictment the Ramil and Tarlan Karimov and Kamran Babayevâ€™s job during the planned attack against the US embassy. Lawyer Bayramov said punishment of the persons, whose guilt was not confirmed, could cause negative precedent in the society.

The hearing will continue in the second half of the year.
Kamran Asadov, Bakhtiyar Orujov, Farid Jabbarov, Elshan Mammadov, Kamran Babayev, Samir Mehraliyev, Tarlan Karimov, Edgar Aliyev, Ramil Karimov, Shirvani Babayev, Samir Aliyev, Yalchin Maharramov, Orkhan Alizadeh, Hajibala Huseynov, Azer Ibadov, Shahriyar Maharramov, Ramin Jalilov, Rovshan Abdulaliyev, Ilkin Ismayilov and Vugar Aliyev are accused of setting up a radical religious group, attempting to start military struggle, attacking on LUKoil petrol station in Baku, preparing terror attack on the U.S. and UK embassies in Azerbaijan.
