National Security Ministry renders harmless persons engaged in smuggling of narcotics

Baku â€“ APA. National security Ministry rendered harmless persons engaged in smuggling of drugs. 20kg hashish was taken from them, Public Affairs Department of the National Security Ministry told APA. Azerbaijanis â€“ Murad Aliyev and Azer Mammadov, citizen of Islamic republic of Iran Alibala Tariverdian smuggled a great deal of narcotics from Iran to Azerbaijan.

Driver of lorry â€œBELITâ€ Alibala Tariverdian hid the narcotics in the lorry, smuggled them to Azerbaijan and agreed to meet with Murad Aliyev in Garadagh district. Murad Aliyev and Azer Mammadov met with Alibala Tariverdian in Garadagh district. Later, they took the sack filled with narcotics from Alibala Tariverdian and hid in Azer Mammadovâ€™s BMW. They were detained on the way to Baku. Over 16kg hashish was found in the car.

National Security Ministry also prevented attempt to smuggle drugs en route â€œAzerbaijan-Russiaâ€. Sumgayit resident Esmira Asadova left for Masalli and took about 4kg hashish from unidentified man. She was to take it to Moscow. Asadova was detained on the way to Sumgayit, 4kg hashish was found on her.

Criminal case has been launched on both facts, operation continues to find other participants of these illegal acts.
