Azerbaijani Interior Ministry and General Prosecutor’s Office issue statement on tragedy in State Oil Academy
The investigation group thoroughly examined the site and the second building of the State Oil Academy, Makarov pistol, cartridge, cartridge-case, blood samples and other material evidences were taken from the offender and examined.
It was determined that Gadirov Farda Asad, 29, who committed the crime, was born in Dashtepe village of Georgia’s Marneuli region, lived in Russian Federation for a long time and returned to his native village in October, 2008. On March 12, 2009, Farda Gadirov met with Marneuli resident Gabulov Ariz Zahid, driver mate of Marneuli-Baku bus, and said he wanted to rent a flat in Baku. Ariz Gabulov agreed to lease one-room flat owned by his brother Arif Gabulov in Chobanzadeh street in Nizami district. The next day, they left for Baku and the flat was handed over to Farda Gadirov.
9mm caliber cartridge, black mask with the description of a wolf made of synthetic material and used rubber gloves were found in the house.
It is being investigated whether Ariz and Arif Gabulov brothers had hand in the crime.
As a result of the operations, Farda Gadirov’s helper in the crime Aliyev Nadir Shirkhan was involved in the investigation. Investigations found out that Farda Gadirov often contacted Nadir Aliyev by a mobile phone documented to the name of Kazimov Medet Gafur, resident of Dash Salahli village of Gazakh region. The latter came to Baku on March 15 and often met with Farda Gadirov. To eliminate the possible obstacles and create conditions for the planned crime Nadir Aliyev together with Farda Gadirov came to the administrative building of State Oil Academy at 9.30 on April 30 and participated in committing the crime. Nadir Aliyev faced charges under related articles of the Criminal Code and was arrested.
Ferda Gadirov’s relative, resident of Shulaveru settlement of Marneuli Region Amirov Javidan Farman, who had regular contacts with him before the event and arrived in Baku on March 12, was also called to the interrogation. Police found 12 bullets of AKM automatic gun and Makarov pistol, as well as 5.04 g of narcotic drugs at his home. According to the court decision, Amirov was arrested for pre-trial detention and his possible relation to the crime is investigated now.
During the procedural investigation, more than 300 witnesses and those, who taped the event on mobile phone, gave testimony and handed over the videotapes to the investigation.
The preliminary investigation showed that bullets and cartridge-cases taken as material evidence were Makarov pistol’s and no other arm or cartridge-case were found at site. The experts identified that cartridge-case and bullets found at site were fired from the Makarov pistol found near Ferda Gadirov, who shot himself on temple.
The witnesses and injured persons identified the Ferda Gadirov’s photo as a man shot on them. The killer’s father Asad Gadirov also confirmed the body shown him for identification was his son Ferda.
Recently some media organizations spread misleading information about the crime, which is evaluated as a harmful attempt to prevent identification of real facts and investigation of possible involvement of some foreign forces.
The ballistic examination didn’t identify the Ferda Gadirov’s Makarov pistol as a gun used for assassination of Air Force and Air Defense Commander General Rail Rzayev.
The investigative and operational measures are continued for identification of the crime organizers, participants and motives.
The public community will be informed further about the necessary points clarified by the investigative-operational group.
