Azeri human right defenders give list of political prisoners to CoE rapporteur

Novella Jafaroglu noted that during the visit they met with representatives of the Venice Commission, the AGO group heads, CoE Commissioner for Human Rights, Anti-Corruption Department and rapporteurs for Azerbaijan.

Saida Gojamanli said that Christoph Strasser have never been to Azerbaijan, so he is not familiar with the problem completely.

MG Members gave rapporteur papers on the political prisoners in Azerbaijan. In this document are the names of 28 political prisoners, and the names of convicted journalists, sick prisoners and wanted OMON members.

Saida Gojamanli noted that the list included the names of detained journalists Ganimat Zahid, Eynulla Fatullayev, Novruzali Mammedov and Mushfig Huseynov.

Human rights activist added that the issue on the surgery of Ali Insanov remains open.

â€œThe European Court set 20 January as a deadline for Ali Insanovâ€™s examination. We took examination judgment to Strasbourg. His treatment is not completed. This issue will be discussed with the Azerbaijani government in negotiations. Former Minister of Economic Development Farhad Aliyev suffers from heart failure,â€ she added.
