Fake diplomas and illegal payment of salaries identified in some musical schools and gymnasiums

The Finance Ministry of Azerbaijan launched a criminal case under articles 308.1, 320.1 and 320.2 of the Criminal Code on February 6, 2009 on the facts of payment of totally 692.567 AZN to the teachers of musical schools and gymnasiums on the basis of fake diplomas and certificates. The Anti-Corruption Office under the General prosecutor investigated the issue and identified that 101 of 1126 diplomas given in the name of Ganja Musical College and taken from the regional musical schools, as well as three certificates, 31 of 533 diplomas given in the name of Musical College of Azerbaijan National Musical Academy, 20 diplomas given in the name of Nakhchivan Musical College, 8 diplomas given in the name of Sumgayit Musical College, totally 172 diplomas and certificates were fake and were not given by those musical schools.
Most of the teachers received the fake diplomas from director of 1st musical school of Yevlakh region Beylerov Beyler Agalar, others received from resident of Yevlakh Farzaliyev Ilham Farzali.
In 2000-2008 Beylerov and others counterfeited 17 diplomas of Gandja Music Technical School, 5 diplomas of Music College #1 of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, 3 diplomas of Baku State Music College, totally 48 diplomas, and sold them to separate persons.
Beylerova faced charges under articles 311.3.1 and 320.1, Farzaliyeva under article 178.2.4 of the Criminal Code and were arrested.
Measures are being taken to determine other participants of the crime and hold them accountable.
