Chief of Gas Supply Department in Agjabadi, representative of executive power in Jalilabad arrested

According to the press service, Azerigaz CSC carried out audit in Agjabadi Gas Supply Department. Lack of gas meters, overstatement of customer consumption, installation of gas meters without estimate documents in some enterprises were found out during the audit. Department to Combat Corruption under General Prosecutorâ€™s Office launched criminal case on articles 179.2.3 and 309.1 and found out that chief of Agjabadi Gas Supply Department Gulmaliyev Elman Gulmali abused his power and embezzled money. Gulmaliyev embezzled the money given by 32 new subscribers for installation of gas meters in 2007. Moreover, Gulmaliyev ignored the decision on â€œInstallation of electric, gas and water meters in the facilitiesâ€ passed by the Cabinet of Ministers on July 27, 2004, according to which new subscribers in 2008 were to install gas meters at their own expenses. He gave instruction to buy 39 gas meters at the cost of the department, took cash from the account of the department and with this damaged the legal interests of Agjabadi Gas Supply Department. Gulmaliyev was arrested and charged with articles 179.2.3 and 309.1 of the Criminal Code on April 24, 2009 and the court passed decision for his pre-trial detention.
Other criminal case investigated by the Anti-Corruption Office of the General Prosecutorâ€™s Office of Azerbaijan was related to bribery and official falsification by representative of the executive power of Jalilabad region in Privolnoye village Agalar Guleshkhan Agayev. During the investigation under articles 311.2 and 313 of the Criminal Code, it became clear that while working as a representative of executive power in Privolnoye Agayev received 300 AZN bribe from Agayeva Ofelia Elkhan for her false marriage with Hasanov Isa Adil, who served in the army in that time, without his consent and presence, falsifying his signature and confirming the certificate with his signature and stamp.
Agayev was arrested for pre-trial detention by the court decision.
