Azerbaijan bans meat products import from USA, Mexico and Europe because of swine flu

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev –APA. State Veterinary Service (SVS) under the Ministry of Agriculture of Azerbaijan banned the import of meat products from Europe to Azerbaijan, SVS spokesman Yolchu Khanveli told APA. He said meat products import from USA and Mexico has been banned since April 27 because of identification of swine flu virus in those countries. Now the ban is implemented in the meat import from Europe too. Azerbaijan doesn’t import meat products from Mexico currently and it was importing only chicken from some provinces of the United States. The chicken import has been also banned since April 27. The swine flu virus was already identified in some European countries, including France, Poland, Switzerland and Denmark. The swine flu is more dangerous than bird flu and can be transmitted via air, foods and contacts with pigs.
