Baku City Police Office holds operational meeting

Chief of the Baku City Police Office General-Major Rafig Abbasov said the Baku Police Garrison purposefully continued fulfillment of duties arisen from the national legislation, presidential decrees and orders, Interior Minister General-Colonel Ramil Usubovâ€™s orders in the field of crime control and maintenance of public order.

Deputy chief of the Baku City Police Office General-Major Yashar Aliyev made large report on the crime control, security and protection of public order, other measures and duties ahead. The deputy chief emphasized that the capital police continued measures to fulfill its duties determined by laws and to secure rights and freedoms of the citizens, as well as to bring the criminals into justice. He said the criminal situation was under the control in the past period. Yashar Aliyev said, 2578 criminal events were fixed over the first three months of 2009, 86.8 percent of them were not grave and publicly dangerous, but 13.2 percent were grave and special grave crimes. As a result of preventive measures, the number of murders were reduced by 13.3 percent as against the same period of last year, murder attempt â€“ 14.3 %, brigandage â€“ 20.5 %, hooliganism â€“ 8.1 %, swindle- 31.2 %, theft of state and municipal property â€“ 4.5 times, the number of injuries during the road accidents â€“ 16.8 %. 76.4 percent of the common crimes and 74.9 percent of grave crimes were cleaned, 16 groups of 35 committed robbery and brigandage, as well as three groups of seven committed 28 residential burglaries were detained.

Moreover, the report said that Crime-Search Department of Baku Main Police Office rendered harmless 9-man organized gang stealing money by breaking the windows of cars in the capital and solved 18 crimes committed by the gang.

Aliyev said over 72kg narcotics had been removed from illicit drug turnover in Baku within the first quarter of the year and said maintenance of public order was under serious control in the reporting period of 2009.

Summarizing the meeting Rafig Abbasov said Baku Main Police Office would continue struggle against crimes and fulfill all the tasks of the leadership to maintain stability, peace and public order.
