Azerbaijani General Prosecutorâ€™s Office: â€œNo one has been arrested directly over the assassination of Rail Rzayevâ€

Media has recently written that a person called Anar Rafiyev and some others were arrested over the assassination of General Rail Rzayev.

Judge of Nasimi district court Sevda Huseynova told APA that Anar Rafiyev had not been arrested directly over the assassination of General. Huseynova said Rafiyev had faced charges under article 179 (embezzlement) of the Criminal Code and arrested.

Press service of Azerbaijani Defense Ministry refused to comment on the media reports that Anar Rafiyev is the son of Rail Rzayevâ€™s aide.

Azerbaijani Deputy Defense Minister, commander of Military Air Forces and Air Defense Forces, Lieutenant-General Rail Rzayev was killed near secondary school #172 in Ismayil bey Gutgashinli street, 300-400m far from his house in Inshaatchilar avenue in Yasamal district at 07.30 on February 11. Republic Military Prosecutorâ€™s Office launched criminal case on the fact on articles 120.2.5 (deliberate murder committed on mercenary prompting or by order, as well as with a view of use a body of a victim) and 228 (illegal purchase, transfer, selling, storage, transportation or carrying of fire-arms, accessories to it, supplies (except for the smooth-bore hunting weapon and ammunition to it), explosives) of the Criminal Code.
