AIU rector Elshad Abdullayev files lawsuit against his nephew

Judge Abbas Rzayev presides over the process. The court sources told APA they have already finalized the court investigation. The prosecutor and lawyer will address the court on April 14.

According to indictment, Azad Mursaliyev and Abdullayevâ€™s fellow countryman Elshan Bakhshaliyev threatened the university rector and dean Mahmud Efendiyev demanding illegal admission of the students. They were arrested and accused under article 134 (threat to murder or causing of serious harm to health) and article 182 (extortion) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.

As accusations against Elshan Bakhshaliyev were not approved by the court, he was charged with article 322.1 (arbitrariness, that is autocratic, contrary to established by law or other normative-legal acts to order commitment of any actions, which legitimacy is denied by the citizen or organization, causing essential harm), which is punished by imprisonment for the term about six months. Therefore Bakhshaliyev was released on March 19, 2009 before the court final. Azad Mursaliyev is charged with article 315.1 (application of violence, resistance with application of violence concerning the representative of authority in connection with performance of official duties by him or application of the violence not dangerous to life or health concerning his close relatives, as well as threat of application of such violence) of the Criminal Code, which is punished by imprisonment for the term up to three years.
