Elmira Suleymanova: â€œSanctions must be imposed on those who committed Khojaly genocideâ€

Baku. Anakhanum Idoyatova – APA. Azerbaijan’s Human Rights Commissioner Elmira Suleymanova and Moldovan Human Rights Commissioner Aurelia Grigoriu met with the witnesses of Khojaly genocide, APA reports.

Elmira Suleymanova spoke about the importance of Justice for Khojaly campaign.

Elmira Suleymanova said pro-Armenian forces spread false information in various countries about Khojaly massacre, try to introduce the victims as Armenians.

“It causes regret that this crime of Armenians has not been assessed in line with the international legal norms, the perpetrators have not been punished. International organizations must take resolute steps towards the solution of Nagorno Karabakh conflict. Relevant international organizations must recognize it as genocide, sanctions must be imposed on those who committed this crime,” she said.

Aurelia Grigoriu said the Azerbaijani government has done much to raise awareness worldwide regarding Khojaly genocide. She said the criminals must be brought to justice basing on the relevant international conventions.
