Azerbaijan allocates €1 million more to Afghanistan Army

Baku. Victoria Dementyeva – APA. Azerbaijan is going to allocate €1 million more to the Afghanistan National Army (ANA) Trust Fund, said Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev at the press conference following his meeting with NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen, APA reports. The President said that Azerbaijan also intends to continue supporting Afghanistan after the withdrawal of the ISAF mission: “We have already allocated €1 million to the Afghanistan National Army Trust Fund and promised to allocate again. Today I would like to say that we are allocating €1 million more and believe that it is our contribution to establishing peace and security in Afghanistan.”
The Azerbaijani President stated that during the meeting with the NATO Secretary General, they discussed the regional situation and Nagorno Karabakh conflict: “This conflict is the main obstacle to regional security and stability. The conflict should be resolved as soon as possible. The settlement of the conflict should be based on international law and the resolutions of the UN Security Council.”
