"The three-country trade mission to the Middle Corridor region has been certified by the U.S. Commercial Service. This indicates that the trip is supported by the U.S. government, particularly the U.S. Department of Commerce," said Natig Bakhshiyev, Executive Director of the U.S.-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce, at a briefing dedicated to the results of the U.S. business delegation's visit to Azerbaijan, APA reports.
He said that the purpose of the trip was to highlight the existing but yet fully untapped potential opportunities in the Middle Corridor.
“Starting from Kazakhstan and extending through Azerbaijan to Georgia, this route holds strategic importance amid the changing Eurasian geopolitical landscape. The delegation inspected large-scale infrastructure projects in Aktau city of Kazakhstan and met with the leadership of the Mangystau region. Afterwards, the delegation crossed the Caspian Sea by ferry and arrived in Azerbaijan,” he said.
He noted that as part of the meetings held in Baku, the delegation closely acquainted themselves with the activities of the Baku International Commercial Council, the Alat Free Economic Zone, and the Baku International Sea Trade Port.
“The port management provided information about large-scale projects planned for the coming years and Azerbaijan’s growing role in regional trade. As part of the visit, productive discussions were held with the ministers of economy, transport, digital development, and foreign affairs, as well as with the leadership of Azerbaijan Railways and the State Customs Committee. The mission will then continue by land to Georgia. There, the current state of transport routes and customs procedures will be observed on site. The visit is planned to conclude on September 12. The US delegation expressed hope that the trip would contribute to further strengthening economic cooperation along the Middle Corridor,” Natig Bakhshiyev concluded.
