Section 907 of the Freedom Support Act has been in effect for a long time. I don't believe there is a desire in our Congress to repeal it, but each successive administration, Republican and Democrat, ensures its waiver when conditions permit, US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs James O'Brien said in a briefing he held for the journalists, APA reports.

"We continue to review what we have now. I believe we have very strong relationships, especially in security and cooperation areas that could potentially be hindered by Section 907 restrictions.

Actually, we are finding very effective ways to work together. We will continue to review this. I think the role this Section plays is often overstated; of course, it depends on how it is administered and managed. Decisions are made at the right time on specific issues, but overall, we have very strong and deep cooperation across all our areas. Therefore, I do not believe this section poses a barrier (to cooperation with Azerbaijan); it's simply one of the issues we work together to resolve," noted the American diplomat.
