Azerbaijan to invite OCSE ODIHR for long-term observation of extraordinary parliamentary elections

We will invite the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) for long-term observation of the parliamentary elections. If I'm not mistaken, they don't do long-term observation during the summer, said Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan (CEC) Mazahir Panahov during today’s meeting of CEC, APA reports.

CEC Chairman said that OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) will conduct short-term observation: “However, we would like them to have a long-term observation. We are ready to welcome them here."

Mazahir Panahov noted that they will ensure the operation of a wide range of observation missions in Azerbaijan: "Local observers can also apply to the CEC. In order to observe the election within the boundaries of any specific electoral district, the electoral commission of that district should be contacted. Whoever applies, we have instructed to create conditions for all of them."
