Baku. Malahat Najafova – APA TV. “The situation over Lake Urmia is better and the water level in lake has risen,” said Iran’s ambassador to Azerbaijan Mohsen Pak Ayeen in his interview with APA TV.

According to him, the Iranian government has allocated funds for improving the situation over Lake Urmia: “A lot of funds are being spent to improve the situation over Lake Urmia. The water of surrounding rivers has already been flowed into the lake. The precipitations have also been more this year. Iran is seriously trying to preserve Lake Urmia as an environmental heritage. The evacuation of 100 houses from the area is no related with Lake Urmia. These houses are located near Maku city. There measures were taken to protect the families from floods.”

The diplomat has also commented on Azerbaijan’s appeals to some organizations to open schools in their language in Iran. According to him, Azerbaijanis and other people living in Iran have no problems in using their languages: “The provinces, where Azerbaijanis live, have their own TV channels, newspapers, radios, music, books and well as football club Traktor. Any person can watch these TV channels and listen to the radio. The representatives of about 15 nations live in Iran. All of them are citizens of the same country and obey the Constitution. According to the Constitution, Persian is the official language of Iran. At the same time, all nations can speak in their languages.

The ambassador also underlined that several nations live in the Republic of Azerbaijan: “But the state language is Azerbaijani and it is impossible for all nations there to widely function in their languages.”
