Washington. N.Kazimova – APA. The hearings on “Threat of militarized Islam in Eurasia” were held at the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the U.S. House of Representatives. APA’s Washington correspondent reports that expert of the Heritage Foundation Ariel Cohen, analyst of Jamestown Foundation Jacob Zenn, strategic consultant at CLI Solutions Nathan Barrick, professor at US Army War College Stephen Blank and representatives of the U.S. Department of State attended the hearings.

Ariel Cohen offered the US government to enhance the counterterrorism program implemented with Azerbaijan and Georgia, help these countries strengthen the borders with Russia.

Stephen Blank commented on the internal and external situation in Azerbaijan. He characterized the threat sourced from Iran as non-intensive, but continuous, long-lasting provocation, terrorism and threat campaign against Azerbaijan.

“Azerbaijan’s security sourced from its geographical position and energy reserves falls under the vital interests of the US and should be regarded so,” he said.
