Moscow sees no threat to Armenia and Azerbaijan continuing their membership in the CIS, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Pankin said in an interview with RIA Novosti, APA’s Moscow correspondent reports.
According to him, the Russian Foreign Ministry observes that relations between Baku and Yerevan are normalizing.
“Threats by whom? For whom and from whom? In fact, CIS membership is voluntary. I don’t know where the word ‘threat’ comes from. This is a free association of states. Both countries frequently join joint statements and documents adopted at various levels. Moreover, we see that relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan are normalizing. We hope that this will also be a positive factor for their future participation in the CIS,” the Russian Deputy Minister emphasized.
