Today in Baku, a meeting was held between the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Shahin Mustafayev, and the Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Russian Federation, Alexey Overchuk, the Cabinet of Ministers told APA.
During the meeting, the current state and development prospects of Azerbaijan-Russia economic cooperation in various directions were discussed.
It was noted that in 2024, trade turnover between the two countries increased by more than 10%, and this positive trend continued in the current year as well. In the first 8 months, mutual trade grew by 13.5% compared to the corresponding period last year, reaching USD 3.35 billion.
The volume of shipments via the North-South corridor increased by 8.3% in the first 9 months of 2025. Of this, 10.4% is attributed to road transport, and 2% to railway transport.
In the first 8 months of this year, agricultural exports from Azerbaijan to Russia increased by 15%, of which 23% accounted for fruit and vegetable products.
The parties expressed satisfaction with the progress of joint projects carried out in investments, industry, transport-transit, energy, customs, and other fields.
In the context of strengthening transport connections, special attention was paid to the development of the North-South international transport corridor. The importance of synchronously implementing infrastructure expansion works along the corridor and ensuring the continuous growth of cargo flows was emphasized.
During the meeting, there was also an exchange of views on the efficient use of the existing cooperation potential, further expansion of mutual relations, and opportunities for implementing new joint initiatives.
At the same time, the importance of the Azerbaijan-Iran-Russia trilateral meeting held in Baku was highlighted. It was expressed with confidence that the ongoing negotiations and the decisions taken will contribute to strengthening cooperation in the relevant areas and be beneficial for all three countries and the region as a whole.
