Removing non-physical barriers along the North-South Corridor is one of the most important steps, Iran’s Minister of Roads and Urban Development Farzaneh Sadegh said at a trilateral meeting of government representatives from Azerbaijan, Russia, and Iran held in Baku, APA reports.
She noted that, according to some data, trucks often have to wait in queues at the border due to daily entry limits on the other side. “This can be reduced by implementing a queue management system. Iran is currently developing this infrastructure and systems at various borders. A draft Memorandum of Understanding on customs cooperation between Iran, Azerbaijan, Russia, and India has already been sent to the parties. I suggest that this document be finalized and signed shortly. In addition, a Working Group should be established among the three countries for technical cooperation on electronic data exchange regarding goods and vehicles in export and transit operations, with regular meetings held in this direction,” she said.
