"China and Azerbaijan have made undeniable historical contributions to the victory in World War II. Both countries are key forces in defending multilateralism, international equality, and justice," said China’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Lu Mei, at today’s briefing, APA reports.
The ambassador noted that by reading newly published historical materials from the Azerbaijani side, she learned that more than 40,000 Azerbaijanis served as part of the Far East and Trans-Baikal fronts and actively participated in battles against Japan’s Kwantung Army: “They made significant contributions to the battles for major Chinese cities such as Harbin, Shenyang, and Changchun. The Chinese people will never forget the support and assistance shown by the Azerbaijani people in their struggle against aggression.”
According to the ambassador, the more tense the international situation becomes, the more China and Azerbaijan should strengthen solidarity and cooperation and bring more stability and positive energy to the world: “China is ready to work together with Azerbaijan to implement the important agreements reached by the two heads of state, to contribute to mutually beneficial cooperation between the two sides, and to achieve greater results. China intends to make a greater China-Azerbaijan contribution to the defense of international equality and justice, as well as to global peace and development.”
