“The Republic of Azerbaijan is the first country in the post-Soviet space to resolve its territorial issue on its own strength. This is, of course, a great achievement of the country’s leader, Mr. President Ilham Aliyev,” said Moldova’s Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Aleksandr Esaulenko, in an interview with APA.
According to the ambassador, Azerbaijan and the Moldovan Republic share a common past: “Both countries have gone through territorial conflicts, but Azerbaijan has, for the first time in history, achieved historical justice by its own strength in the post-Soviet space. The Republic of Moldova is currently taking steps to resolve its territorial issues, and in this regard, Azerbaijan’s experience holds special importance for us.”
The diplomat noted that magnificent projects are being implemented in Azerbaijan’s territories liberated from occupation.
“We have a very dense bilateral agenda. This includes the exchange of experience and increasing trade turnover. We cooperate at the level of the Ministries of Economy and Trade. There is also very promising cooperation between agencies for the Development of Small and Medium Enterprises. I believe that the potential of bilateral cooperation has not yet been fully realized. Next year, the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation will be held. Usually, these meetings are held once a year. This year’s meeting took place in the Republic of Azerbaijan in April, and next year, we hope it will be held in the Republic of Moldova,” the ambassador emphasized.
Ambassador Esaulenko said that there is potential for cooperation between the two countries in the field of energy, and the meeting of the two leaders within the framework of the European Political Partnership Forum in Copenhagen will contribute to the development of these relations and the strengthening of cooperation in the energy sector.
