Azerbaijan’s Human Rights Commissioner makes statement on 17th anniversary of Khojaly Genocide

The statement was addressed to UN Secretary General, UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict, High Commissioner for Human Rights, OSCE, the Council of Europe, International and European Ombudsman Institutes, International Peace Bureau, Universal Peace Federation, Asian Ombudsman Association, Azerbaijani embassies and Diasporas in foreign countries. Suleymanova underlined that Khojaly Genocide had not propagated at proper level for a long time.
“Unfortunately, Khojaly Genocide has not been recognized by any country. The Khojaly Genocide is an action against peace and mankind and should be recognized as one of the most international grave crimes. The death toll as a result of the genocide is 613 civilians, of them 106 women and 63 children, 70 old men.
487 of them are disabled, 1275 captives and 150 missing people.
Suleymanova stressed that the Armenian terrorists committing Khojaly Genocide should be held accountable.
“Armenia should implement Articles of international documents adopted regarding the conflict, Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity should be restored, violated rights of refugees and IDPs should be stirred up, they should return back to their lands, international actors should impose sanction against Armenia,” she said.
