Khalaf Khalafov meets United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Navanethem Pillay

Geneva-APA. Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov has met with Ms. Navanethem Pillay, United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Foreign Ministryâ€™s Press Service told APA.
The sides expressed their satisfaction with current cooperation between Azerbaijan and Office of the High Commissioner of Human Rights and exchanged views on future cooperation and its prospects. High Commissioner assessed reforms and complex measures taken on human rights by Azerbaijan. Deputy Foreign Minister provided detailed information about reforms, measures taken to ensure human rights and fundamental freedoms in the country, refugees and IDPs , who were victims of mass and rude breach of human rights as a result of Armenian aggressive policy against Azerbaijan, as well as missing people and captives .
Khalafov has met with AntÃ³nio Guterres, the United Nations high commissioner for refugees during the visit. High Commissioner assessed the policy pursued by Azerbaijan to ensure human rights of refugees and IDPs and noted that he held up improvement of social condition of refugees and providing them with new settlements as good example for other countries. The sides exchanged views on cooperation between Azerbaijan and Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, the role of Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees in involvement of international donors in the settlement of social problems of refugees and IDPs, education in settlements built for refugees and IDPs, joint projects of Azerbaijani Government and Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees on employment and health , solution to Nagorno Karabakh conflict , returning of refugees and IDPs to their lands .
