Baku. Viktoria Dementieva – APA. National report on Azerbaijan was presented at the meeting of the UN Human Rights Council on February 4, Azerbaijan’s ambassador to Switzerland and permanent representative to the UN Office at Geneva Elchin Amirbayov told APA. He said the procedure was new and Azerbaijan passed the procedure for the first time.
“This system makes it available for the countries to exchange views on the development of human rights,†he said.
Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov presented the report on behalf of Azerbaijan. The representatives of about 60 countries expressed their positions in the three-hour discussions. The ambassador said the discussions were positive and constructive, Azerbaijan’s achievements in the field of human rights were noted and a number of recommendations were put forth.
