Elmar Mammadyarov receives credentials of Angolan newly-appointed Ambassador to Azerbaijan

Baku. Lachin Sultanova –APA. Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov received Angolan newly-appointed Ambassador to Azerbaijan Samuel Tito Armando regarding presentation of credentials, Foreign Ministry’s Press Service told APA.
The meeting discussed current situation on Azerbaijan-Angola relations and the sides exchanged views on measures to be taken for the development of relations. Mammadyarov stressed an importance of mutual relations and underlined that one of the main priorities of Azerbaijani foreign policy is to restore the country’s territorial integrity. Mammadyarov said that the country was surprised at the fact that Angola voted against resolution on situation in Azerbaijani occupied lands in UN General Assembly in 2008 and the fact cast a shadow to our relations.
Ambassador noted that Angolan President Jose Eduardo dos Santos studied at Baku Oil Academy and said that Angolan First Lady Ana Paula dos Santos returned form international conference on Expanding the Role of Women in Cross-cultural Dialogue in Baku,2008 with beautiful memories and stressed that Angola was interested in development of relations with Azerbaijan. Angolan Ambassador underlined that there was misunderstanding on the fact that Angola voted against resolution and stressed that the President gave him task to take proper measures to develop cooperation and prevent the fact to cause damage to relations.
The sides were coordinated to conduct consultations on the issue at permanent representations of the two countries to international organizations. The sides exchanged views on cooperation in education and energy, as well as preparation of oil engineers between the two countries.
