Novruz Mammadov: â€œAzerbaijan has already demonstrated itself as an influential partner in the great projects carried out in the regionâ€

Baku. Lachin Sultanova â€“ APA. â€œThe World Economic Forum is the most important and influential meeting held in Davos once a year. The character, directions of the ongoing political, economic and geopolitical processes are determined in this forum,â€ chief of international relations department of Presidentâ€™s Office Novruz Mammadov told APA exclusively. He said that about 3000 experts in business, economics, politics, geopolitics and media, heads of 30-40 states and governments gather in Davos and discuss these issues.
â€œTaking into account that 2009 is the year of crisis, Davos forum was of great importance. Azerbaijani Presidentâ€™s participation in the forum is remembered for his meetings, high level talks. Azerbaijanâ€™s President had meetings with heads of about 10 states. Prospects of bilateral relations and cooperation were made clear during these meetings. I think these meetings were very useful and effective. The talks mainly focused on Europeâ€™s energy security and development of bilateral relations,â€ he said.
Speaking about the Presidentâ€™s participation at the Nabucco Summit in Budapest, Novruz Mammadov said Azerbaijan was ready to join this project in case of concrete steps toward its realization. â€œAzerbaijan has already demonstrated itself as an influential partner in the great projects carried out in the region. If these projects contribute to the regional and global security, why donâ€™t we join them? The President has already expressed his position on this issue. The European countries need in Nabucco project more than others and they have to come together and to make decision, to concretize the political, economic and organizational issues for realization of the project and to solve the financial issues. Azerbaijan is ready to join the project, of course, after resolving these issuesâ€.

Novruz Mammadov said the President expected to visit number of foreign countries this year and now work is going on for organizing these visits. â€œThe president expected to visit many countries. Generally the main goal of the Azerbaijani Presidentâ€™s foreign visits is, as it was earlier, to make steps toward the development, prosperity and future of the countryâ€.
